A typical call about mold might be a tenant who has noticed what looks like mold on a ceiling in the bathroom. Our property managers are able to go to the home and check out how bad it is. Many times, it is surface mold that is caused by a lack of bath fans and it can be easily cleaned up. If there is extra humidity inside the house or something from the outside causing the problem, we are able to identify that issue as well. We have become diligent about keeping bath fans installed and available, and we encourage our tenants to use them. We are always looking for ways to improve the air flow and control in the house, whether we need better kitchen fans or dehumidifiers throughout the property. We have found that mold really comes from lifestyle and inadequate air flow. We let the tenants know that fans and dehumidifiers can help the air circulate and not only eliminate mold but also keep it from coming back.
